It's almost time for summer holidays, and I'm really excited for this year! Last year I was in New Zealand for 6 weeks, and although it was a ton of fun, when I got home I basically had to plunge back into school mode head first without having time to regroup after being overseas all summer. This year, I'm hanging out at home, spending time with Jeff, riding my bike, going to the lake, playing with the twins, helping Jeff move, doing some projects, spending 2 weeks at 2 different band camps (1 week in Saskatoon and 1 at IMC), and otherwise just enjoying my free time.
We're into the last full week of classes at school as well starting Monday. It's insane to me how fast things have gone, but it's true - the last concerts have been performed, the band instruments are going to be returned, cleaned, inventoried, and put back on the shelves for next year, and things are all going to wrap up. The weather is beautiful and things are really starting to feel end-of-June-ish (yay!), so summer must really be around the corner. :o)
I can't wait to spend lots of time with these little munchkins this summer, especially when they learn to crawl and I can chase them around!
Also, in a moment of colourful inspiration brought on by sampling different colours on each of my fingernails at Shoppers Drug Mart today, I went home and snagged some of my favourite colours from my own collection and did a "Smartie toes" pedicure. Then when I was cleaning my band office at school today (yes, on a Saturday... the end of June is beautiful but one of the busiest times of the year at work!) I found this cool anklet and just had to take pictures on my front lawn. Here's the resulting photo edit (if you can't read it or click to enlarge it, it says, "Summer is where the girls go barefoot and their hearts are just as free as their toes.")
