It's Christmas Eve Eve, and I'm in Winnipeg visiting family and friends. There's definitely some last-minute shopping to be done, but I'm sure it can all be tackled today.
My internship application is not officially finished until I have submitted a transcript of my final grades. I've got 2 out of 4 final grades posted - 89 and 82 in Emus 442 and Epse 258 respectively. I'm hoping that if I can keep my grades up I may be in the running for some more scholarships for next year. It would be so nice to have less financial stress when I take off to New Zealand!!!! *crosses fingers for both scholarships and a placement in NZ*
I can't wait for Christmas!!!!

Application = finished
The deadline for the Global Student Teaching application is tomorrow. I've got my package all put together, and I've double/triple/quadruple-checked it to make sure that is complete. So here's to hoping that I'll turn it in without any trouble tomorrow, and those nice folks at GST will find me a placement somewhere in New Zealand!
And now, to remind myself how to post pictures on here, I will attempt to post a picture of me that I took this afternoon on campus:

I look like I'm bitter about the snow, but I think it was just that I was squinting at the sun, or the cold, or whatever it was outside this afternoon that made me look unimpressed.
Adios!

Preparations
The deadline for my Global Student Teaching application is drawing near, and I still have more to do to get ready:
- Get Gerald's reference letter (I got Cheryl's already, yay!)
- Talk to somebody about applying for student loans
- Write my autobiography
- Fill out the release and waiver form
- Print and fill out the pdf application form
Life is busy, busy, busy! I'm super stressed at school right now, but Christmas is just around the corner. I have innumerable assignments and papers due before I can start truly getting excited..... yuck. 'Tis the season I suppose!
Check in later.

Ironic?
Is it ironic that, of all the places in the world that I could go for my internship, I have decided to choose New Zealand, when the only food in the world that I am allergic to is the kiwi?

Preparations
For my own records, here is my To-Do List regarding getting ready for my international internship application:
- criminal record check
- approach 2 people for reference letters
- find out if I need a visa
- write letters to the scholarship office, Music Department, and College of Education re: being considered for scholarships for next school year (even though I'll likely be overseas)
- arrange for transcript to be sent to CSBE after T1 grades are posted
- start a binder for all internship information
That's it so far.... this is a big process but it will likely pay off in the long run!

Welcome to my new blog!
It's mid-October 2006 and I'm in the midst of making plans for summer/fall 2007.... I'm in the process of looking more into the possibility of doing my Music Education internship in New Zealand. Those of you who know me well know that once I get excited about something, I can't let it go, hence my creation of this blog! I figure that if (and hopefully when) I go to New Zealand I can use this to keep my friends and family informed of what I'm up to, how my experience is going, etc.
So let's see if I'm actually going! The application deadline for Global Student Teaching is December 5th. Right now I'm figuring out if it's financially feasible. *hope hope hope!*
Much love,
- Lauren
