Quickly approaching....

Things are starting to fall into place for New Zealand. I have my flights booked, I've started the process of applying for a Visa, I have my International Student Identity Card (ISIC), and we're looking into potential host families to take me in for the 4 months that I'll be over there. There are still quite a few things to do before I'll feel really ready to go, though. My correspondence with the school and the GST people has been really slow (and non-existant, in some cases) because they're on a term break and seemingly have not been checking their e-mail with any sort of regularity. Once I have my Visa application submitted, my application for an ETA (Electronic Travel Authority) for my trip to Australia, and a solid committment from a host family, I will feel 10 times better about everything. In the meantime I'm just running around like crazy trying to get things organized!

Once I get there, everything will be amazing. My school is incredible - looks like the music program is heavily funded. Wind ensemble, choir, jazz ensemble, string orchestra, barbershop quartet, rock bands, etc..... it will be an incredible learning experience for me. And even the school itself looks fantastic - check out the picture at the top.

Once I get to NZ I'll start updating this blog as my regular way of keeping in touch with everyone. If you are reading this, please leave me a comment (I'm allowing anonymous comments, so you don't have to sign up for blogger) and sign your name so I know who is reading this. :o) I'm always interested to know who's keeping up-to-date on my life!

Kia ora!

- Lauren

Heya Lauren! Looking forward to seeing you in NZ. One quick note, have you ever thought about putting a counter on your blog? It's fun to watch the numbers go up, even if people aren't commenting. (And, my experience is that potential commenters can be a little shy... but at least you can see how often your page is getting uploaded!_ ^_^

Sign up for a counter at http://www.best-free-counters.com, and if you want the map thing Diane and I have, just go to one of our maps and click on the top right-hand corner ("Get your own map free"). You then copy the html code the sites give you, and paste it into the blogger layout options. I can give more detail later if you need. :-)
