Back from a beautiful weekend in Ohakune and Mt. Ruapehu with staff (and friends) from Upper Hutt College. It was an absolute blast! The scenery was gorgeous, the weather was nice, the 2-hour spa pool stint made me nice and wrinkly, and the $13 paralyzer (which I had to describe to the bartender... can you believe they've never heard of a paralyzer here?!) at the Powderkeg restaurant last night was well worth it! Haha. Highlights to come in picture form soon. :o)

I feel like this is a message from the future! After all, this post is from like, 11pm...but it's barely past 8pm here, haha.
Glad you had good time, but it seems as though I'll never visit NZ...NO PARALYZERS?
Glad to hear you had lots of fun and your knee held out!! I can't believe they had never heard of a paralyzer...how sad!
I actually didn't end up skiing, but I did enough hiking to feel like I'd had a full ski weekend. And can you believe the paralyzer was $13?!?! Jono (P.E. teacher at Fiona's school) and I each ordered one, and the bartender was like, "That will be $26 please." I just about peed my pants. But it was a good paralyzer, so I suppose it was worth it, even for the story if nothing else. Haha.
I have fond memories of chocolate martini's at the powderkeg circa 2000. Fun place. Glad you enjoyed your weekend away with Sam. Look forward to seeing you down here maybe in the school holidays?
