Hello from Westport! This has to be quick (as the title suggests) because I have only 6 minutes left on my limited internet time, and I still have to check my e-mail. Fi and I are having lots of fun on the Kiwi Experience tour, and we've only been gone for less than 2 days. We left Nelson this morning and stopped at Nelson Lakes for lunch, then at the Buller River Adventure Tours to do some jet boating (me) and horse trekking (Fiona) en route to Westport. We had a bonfire on the beach tonight with our bus driver and all of the other travelers, so that was a fun way to get to know people.
My time runs out in 4 minutes!
I've been a prolific postcard writer over the past 24 hours. I'll make my way to a post office sometime in the next couple days to get them in the mail. I found a nice koru postcard at the Buller River Adventure Tours office, so I picked up 6 of them. Haha, yes, 6. 3 are for me, as I plan to frame them all together for my room at the lake (or my new apartment, if the lime green of the postcard clashes with the lime green of my walls at the lake).
3 minutes left... must check e-mail!
I'm working on the photo challenge pictures as well. Mom, I got the picture of my feet in the Tasman Sea, but then the tide came in! So I also got an "after" shot of my soaked rolled-up jeans. Oh the trouble I go to for my friends and family! :op Haha. I'm loving the photo challenge. So far so good. My friends have been sending me REALLY challenging requests on Facebook... we'll see how those go. It's been fun so far for sure!
One minute! Cheers!

Sounds like you are having lots of fun - love the text messages I get at work...I had to hide out in the staff room yesterday to text you back, as the students aren't allowed to use cell phones in school, so I didn't think it was a good idea to text from the office (especially with the speed I text message). Glad you chose jet boating!
Keep thinking of more things for you to try to take photos of:
- road signs you won't see in Canada (long Maori names)
- NZ money
- stores, grocery stores unique to NZ
- your bus driver
- black sand beach
- volcanic hillsides - it is neat landscape, isn't it?
- sheep!
(Some of those photos would be good backdrops to scrapbooking your important photos when you get home)
